Children Services
Residential Services
Mission Road Developmental Center provides residential care for children (3 to 17 years of age) with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities in five homes on our 20-acre campus and in one home located in the San Antonio community. Mission Road cares for children from all areas of Texas.
All but two of the Mission Road children have been removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or exploitation and are placed with Mission Road by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Many of the children have physical disabilities and challenging behaviors, along with emotional scars. The children need trained staff and professionals to provide the supports that will enable them to achieve their full potential. Mission Road is one of two non-profit organizations in Texas caring for children with mental retardation who have been removed from their family by Child Protective Services because of neglect and abuse.
The children’s residential program is licensed and monitored by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Foster Care
Mission
Road is a licensed Child Placing Agency, and we strive to place
children with mental retardation who have been removed from their
family because of neglect or abuse in the safe and caring environment
of a foster family.
Mission Road has developed an expertise in working with and identifying the needs of children with mental retardation who have physical disabilities and challenging behaviors. Mission Road actively recruits and provides training to families who open their home to provide Foster Care to these children.
The Child Placing Agency and the Foster Care Program is licensed and monitored by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
